Genealogical Data Model

GENTECH is widely known for the work that its Lexicon Working Group has done in developing the GENTECH Genealogical Data Model, a formal model of genealogical data and of the genealogical research process. The model is of fundamental interest to developers of genealogy software.

GEDCOM TestBook Project

Revised July 2001. The GEDCOM TestBook Project is an effort to evaluate how well popular genealogy programs conform to the GEDCOM 5.5 standard for exchanging genealogical data. The project is led by Suddie (Bill) Mumford, who, among other things, is the contributing editor for software for the NGS/CIG Digest.

Scholarship Program

GENTECH is active in educational outreach. An annual scholarship program rewards promising young scholars who pursue research projects that combine technology and genealogy. See the Scholarship page for details.
